[USA] Seaweed is piling up on beaches in southern Palm Beach County.
Environmentalists say it’s common to see this during the summer– but say this week seaweed is piling up in bigger amounts than normal.
It’s catching people by surprise.
“We came over the bend and we were like the water is red and we saw the seaweed,” said one visitor.
“We were really excited about coming to the beach and this is a little bit of a downer,” said another.
The county is monitoring the seaweed.
If it gets to be a problem crews will rake it.
But scientists say it’s natural and good for the ecosystem.
