Watson-Marlow to showcase pump technology for the biofuels industry at Algae Biomass Summit

[USA] Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) is showcasing MasoSine sinusoidal pumps, APEX™ hose pumps, and highly accurate Qdos metering pumps at the Algae Biomass Summit, which will be held September 30 – October 2, 2015 at the Marriott
Washington Wardman Park, in Washington, DC. Visit Booth 413 to see the range of WMFTG pumps ideal for all sectors of the world’s algae utilization industries.

The MasoSine pump on display is designed to gently transfer material, making it the ideal pump for pumping algae and enzymes in biofuel applications. Featuring a sinusoidal rotor that produces powerful suction with low shear and low pulsation, MasoSine pumps safely transfer delicate products without risk of degradation. In biofuels applications, this feature prevents damage to the live product and even allows them to multiply during transfer.

Suitable for applications up to 218 psi and flows up to 23,775 gallons per hour, the highly efficient working principle of MasoSine pumps means that they can contribute to energy savings and CO2 reduction. In addition, maintenance takes minutes and can be performed in-place by a line operative.

Stop by the booth to see the Bredel APEX™ range of seal-less, valve-less hose pumps, which are ideal for chemically aggressive or abrasive applications. APEX hose pumps are designed for dosing, metering, and transfer duties from 0.012 gallons per minute (GPM) to 27.3 GPM, at pressures up to 116 psi. The higher flow per revolution means APEX pumps can be run at lower speeds, increasing hose life and reducing wear. A choice of hose materials ensures compatibility with a wide range of fluids, including fluids with high solids content, aggressive chemicals, and abrasive slurries.

Also on display will be the Qdos range of peristaltic metering pumps. Handling flow rates from 0.001 to 15 gallons per hour at 100 psi, the Qdos pump was specifically designed to reduce chemical metering costs compared to conventional solenoid or stepper-driven diaphragm metering pumps.

Qdos pumps eliminate the need for ancillaries, boost productivity, and cut chemical wastage due to highly accurate, linear and repeatable metering. Simple installation and easy, tool-free maintenance ensures that total cost of ownership is minimized. Watson-Marlow’s patented ReNu pumphead technology provides a single, safely contained component for rapid maintenance without the need for tools. An intuitive menu offers advanced control features, including fluid level monitoring, line priming, and flow calibration.
