World Economic Forum: Algae could be the future of light

[Global] Bioluminescent algae is claimed to be the potential light source. Artist and inventor Daan Roosegaarde’s idea is about to make this happen.

In fact, bioluminescent plankton don’t glow all of the time. It takes energy to make the chemicals that allow them to glow.
