[Global] Kim Kardashian has been fully open about her skin condition in the past, talking about her psoriasis on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and social media alike. The reality star Tweeted about getting psoriasis on her face in January, and now, she’s telling fans exactly how she treats it.
Psoriasis is a genetic immune system condition that causes a red, scaly rash on your body or (less commonly) face. It can be aggravated by factors like stress, injury, or certain medications — but the outbreaks can also be soothed and diminished by several treatments, a few of which Kim addressed on her app.
“Psoriasis has impacted my life since I was first diagnosed in 2010. After having had it for over seven years, I feel like I’ve accepted it, but there are still times when I can feel insecure about it,” she shared in a recent post. “A newer treatment that I’ve started is using seaweed-based beauty products,” she says. “I use it to treat spots that are especially irritating, red, or flakey.” Kim referenced the soothing properties of the aquatic plant, which is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties — two things that can help treat sensitive, irritated skin.
Aside from seaweed skincare, Kim also shared that she’s successfully tried a low-acid diet and cortisone shots to treat her skin. And, she’s enlisted her family’s help, too. “I’ve tried some basic treatment methods, but I’m always open to trying new things. One time, I even tried using Kourt’s breast milk, lol!” she added. But, if you’re shopping for eczema-friendly topical products, start by looking under the sea. Check out a few of our faves, below.
