SEATTLE — People are reporting a lot of red or orange streaks in Puget Sound in the last two weeks. Some are worried it could be what scientists call a harmful algae bloom or HAB. Llanelli’s North Dock closed to swimmers
Just ahead of half term, Llanelli’s North Dock has been closed to swimmers. People and animals have been warned to stay out of the water because of blue green algae detected in the dock. Carmarthenshire Council’s public protection department has been informed of the presence of the algae by National Resources Wales.

In an ongoing effort to clean up Dane County lakes, County Executive Joe Parisi on Thursday announced a new program to help local farmers keep phosphorus out of the lakes.
