WESTPORT, N.Y. – Blue-Green Algae is back.
The nearly annual nuisance was spotted in the southern part of Lake Champlain near Westport, according to New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation…
The DEC warns people to avoid any water with distinct green coloring or scum, as the algal blooms can cause health problems for humans and pets alike.
Algal blooms can move and change quickly based on weather conditions, and are made worse by high levels of things like phosphorus.
