Brad’s Beat: Neosho Fish Hatchery Algae Cleanup

NEOSHO, MO.— Workers at the Neosho Fish Hatchery are draining four different ponds to clean for algae. Several thousand fish have to be emptied from the ponds and moved to a different shelter. The algae builds up and makes the water cloudy,… which can be bad for fish.

“Really becomes a problem and starts clogging up our screens and wrapping fish around it and stuff. So if we can keep that free, it’s really a lot easier,” said Justin Perkins, Biologist.
The algae will be cooked by the sun and then recycled into the ground.
