Algenol wins Global Energy Award

Algenol Biofuels has been named the recipient of the 2014 Global Energy Award for Industry Leadership in Biofuels, presented by PLATTS Global Energy Awards. PLATTS, a global provider of information for the energy industry, received more than 200 applicants from more than 25 different countries and selected finalists that meet excellence in leadership, innovation, and performance in the energy industry.

“We are very honored,” said Paul Woods, Founder and CEO of Algenol Biofuels, “2014 has been a fantastic year for Algenol and 2015 is sure to be even better as we transition to commercial production.”

Algenol was selected as a finalist in late September. Other finalists in the category included the United States Navy, Renewable Energy Group, Honeywell UOP, LanzaTech, POET, and more.

According to the PLATTS website, winners of these awards represent the “best of the best” in energy. “Algenol truly is a leader in the biofuels industry, constantly pushing the industry forward,” said a PLATTS representative, “PLATTS looks to award true vision and leadership, both of which Algenol clearly possess.”

Algenol is a global biotechnology company, headquartered in Ft. Myers, Florida with over 200 employees commercializing its patented algae technology platform for production of the four most important fuels (ethanol, gasoline, jet, and diesel fuel). Algenol uses proprietary algae, sunlight, carbon dioxide and saltwater for high yield, low cost, fuel production at $1.30 per gallon. These novel, low-cost techniques recycle and monetize carbon dioxide from industrial sources, do not use farmland or food crops, and have the ability to provide freshwater.
