[Thailand] VIV Asia 2017 took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 15-17 March, 2017. Besides welcoming hundreds of visitors at the Booth 554, Olmix organized a wide range of activities that shed light on the more and more important topic of the healthy food chain, particularly the antibiotic and pesticide-free productions and the innovative solutions offered by algae to answer this challenges.
With almost 900 exhibitors, VIV Asia, one of the most important international trade shows in Asia, turned out to be a huge success. Held in the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Thailand, from the 15-17 March, the event gathered thousands of professionals that had the chance to attend a wide range of special events and activities focused on the production of pig meat, poultry meat, eggs, fish and dairy, among others.
In this context, it can be said that Olmix Group played a key role at the show from the very beginning, since the company organized several activities before and during the event.
Olmix went the extra mile and took part in two pre-show conferences: Aquatic Asia 2017 Conference and Immunosuppresion 2017, where questions on how seaweed can improve animals performance and welfare were raised.
First it was Mr Maarten Jay van Schoonhoven, Olmix’s Aqua Care Manager, who delivered a dynamic conference presentation at Aquatic Asia 2017 Conference (Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20). Mr Van Schoonhoven pointed out the high importance of seaweed extracts to improve disease prevention in Aquaculture.
‘In an aquaculture industry that is looking for sustainability without affecting the performance in the farms, marine algae (seaweeds) are a natural first choice. Seaweed extracts, in the form or highly bio-active, sulphated polysaccharides (OLMIX MSP) make a strong contribution to a safe and natural support of shrimp and fish health. A natural contribution against stress and pathogenic pressure, which are common in aquaculture production’, he explained.
Later on, Mrs María Ángeles Rodríguez, Olmix’s Technical Service Manager, went on stage at Immunosuppression 2017 (Double Tree by Hilton Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok) to deliver a speech entitled Sulfated algae polysaccharides to modulate immunity. Mrs Rodríguez took the opportunity to share her thoughts on how to use and adapt immunomodulators in the new era of antibiotic-free production.
‘Poultry farms and all supporting professions are seeking to increase the performance of farms, with a new constraint in the game, that is to limit the use of antibiotics. To reach this objective, the use of immunomodulators able to support the natural defenses of the animals and improve the sanitary status of the animals. Specific algae extract (sulfated polysaccharides -OLMIX MSP) are innovative promising candidates, as they can stimulate both natural and acquired immunity. They proved it both in vitro and in field conditions’, she said.
Besides welcoming hundreds of visitors who joined us to talk about our algae-based solutions for Animal Care and Plant Care, the Olmix’s Technical Service Team officially launched the Olmix Myco’Calculator on Thursday, 16 March.
The Olmix Myco’Calculator is a complex and unique tool that permits to calculate the optimum dosage of MT.X+ and MMi.S depending on the type of analysis, the animal species, the stage of the animal, the profile and level of mycotoxin contamination and the health status of the farm. It was a friendly moment that visitors took to exchange with our technical team, learn more about Olmix’s mycotoxin tools philosophy and our latest innovations.
