[USA] The ways in which both Spirulina and Chlorella can be eaten are also very different. Because of its hard, indigestible cellulose wall, for instance, Chlorella requires mechanical processing to make it worthwhile for human consumption. Otherwise, the body won’t be able break down and metabolize its nutrients.
On the other hand, Spirulina has a completely digestible cell wall and can be immediately consumed and digested with ease with no processing.
Fresh Spirulina is liquid and closest to its natural state. Is is bio-available and easily absorbed by the body – you’ll be able to “feel the difference.
Here is how we make Spirulina balls using live Spirulina:
Combine the walnuts, dates and banana in a food processor or high speed blender. Pulse gently until broken down. Add the lemon zest, vanilla and salt and pulse again until the mixture has a sticky texture.
Place the mixture in a large bowl. Carefully add in the Spirulina and gently mix in with hands. Next, form into small balls with your fingers. (will make 12-20 balls depending on the size)
- 2 cups of walnuts
- 6 pitted dates
- 2 tablespoons of our Raw Living Spirulina paste
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tea spoon lemon zest
- 1 vanilla bean
- a pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup of shredded coconut
Now it’s time to roll them into the shredded coconut and place them in glass container.
Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill. Store in refrigerator for up to 2 days but preferably serve as fresh as possible.
