[China, Taiwan] The 3rd Cross-Strait Forum for the Phycological Societies and Algae Industries aims to promote unity and collaboration of phycological societies and algae industries from Taiwan and China.
The forum, which was first launched in Taiwan in year 2014, has always been committed to promote research innovation and business collaboration from both sides of the Taiwan Strait in all disciplines related to algae.
Hosted by the Taiwan Phycological Society, the 1st Cross-Strait Forum for the Phycological Societies and Algae Industries was successfully held at the Taipei Central Research Institute in May 2014. It was an important milestone between the phycologists from both sides in terms of enhancing friendship, which allowed further communications and academic exchange.
The 2nd forum was held in Haikou, Hainan from November 19 to 20, 2015. The forum was organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Tropical Bioscience and Biotechnology, and the Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research. There were a total of 101 delegates, which came from universities, algae industry, and entrepreneurs, attended the forum. The topic discussed during the forum include algae cultivation, algae biotechnology and also industrial applications of algae.
This year, the forum is ready to take off with a new theme – “New challenge and new responsibility for the algae stackholders from both sides”. Upon attending the forum, the organizing committee hope that there will be more communications and collaborations between the scholars and the industry players from the two sides.
The organizing committee welcome scholars, students and entrepreneurs who are engaged in algae industry from the both sides of the strait to attend the forum.
