Seward 6th Graders Celebrate National Park Week With Seaweed
What is red, green or brown, kind of slimy and often edible? Seaweed! This year’s National Park Week programs introduced all of Seward’s 6th grade students to their local seaweeds. They spent last week with Kenai Fjords National Park rangers to learn which seaweeds they can eat with sushi, which seaweeds release sulfuric acid to keep from being eaten by sea urchins, and which seaweeds are hard as rocks.
